Myth of the Day, 31
“You’ll marry the first person you have sex with.”
REALITY: This is rarely true. Even though your first love or the first person you have sex with feels like the one you’ll love forever, the reality is that most first time sexual relationships are romantic but short-lived. 8 out of 10 first time teen sexual relationships last 6 months or less and one-quarter are one-time occurrences.

I want many of these.
I’m going to be making some posts. Thoughts?
They’re going to discuss the various things about pregnancy in a more medical/scientific way because the body is amazing and it is seriously COOL to see everything it can do. Here is what I’m planning:
- A post about embryology: the terms we use, fetal developmental stages, and gestational age
- A post about how a body menstruates and what happens in the body that causes the menstrual cycle
- A post about how a body senses it is pregnant and maintains that pregnancy
- A post about thins that happen to the body during a pregnancy and the common complications or symptoms people have throughout a pregnancy
- A post about common reasons why a spontaneous abortion would occur
- How our bodies make sperm and eggs
Are there any other posts ya’ll would like me to write up about the body (it doesn’t just have to be about pregnancy)?
Love,
Rabble
Are you going to go into detail on the process of fertilization? I’ve wanted to know more about that for a while.
Related to menstruation and how we produce eggs - do you know details about how hormonal birth control works beyond what Planned Parenthood and the like have on it? Like, what exactly do progesterone and estrogen do to regulate ovulation? It’s been a while since my one semester of biology…
Thanks, Rabble! It’s awesome having someone around who studies medicine.
So how do we fight back? The path to loving our bodies in all their variants is long and difficult for some of us. But if you’re curious to see if you’re normal, or want to see the wide variety of colors, sizes and shapes that vulva and labias come in, it may help to check out a body project like Vulva101.
Yes, I have finished my book. My very first book. It is in the hands of the publisher and now I wait for their edits and graphics to be added.
The topic? Quickies:Hot and Fast
The book, as it is currently written, discusses:
1. Redefining quickies
2. The importance of your brain
3. Orgasms and sexy body parts
4. Communication, Dirty Talk and Fantasies
5. What to always have on hand
6. Where to do it in the house (and what to do if you have roommates or little ones wandering around)
7. Where to do it outside of the house
8. The best emotion styles for each position, options for new positions, and figuring out the danger levels depending on where you play
9. Having fun while you are frolicking fast!
I worked really hard to make sure that different ability levels, ages, relationships styles and sexual orientations were included. Plus there are a lot of activities that are included for partner(s) play or introspective time.
Don’t know when it goes into print, but you can pre-order it soon.
Done, done, done!
Regret and shame are two of the most toxic emotions we can feel as people - they can twist us up into knots, make us think dangerous things, and dim the brightness of who we are.

To the anons who asked;
- Douching with Mt. Dew and/or bleach WILL NOT be an effective method of preventing pregnancy or STDs. You can make yourself at risk for infection and throw your ph levels off, not to mention the bleach alone will cause burns. Spermicides are not such effective methods of birth control. Douching at all is actually pretty bad. A vagina is naturally equipped to keep itself clean. Look into condoms (male or female), birth control pills/patches/shots, or a IUD.
- Wearing two condoms is not much more effective at preventing pregnancy. If anything, you’re putting yourself at risk of both of them breaking from the friction.
- Birth control in pill form is to be taken everyday at the same time for it to work. Unlike how some politicians think it works, you don’t take it right before sex. You should have a set time to take it every day. If you have problems remembering to take it every day or have too many side effects I suggest looking for another contraceptive method.
Myth of the Day, 25
MYTH: Condoms can be reused.
REALITY: Once a condom has been removed from its wrapper, you have to use it or lose it. And once a condom has been used during sex, it is no longer good—throw it away!

Kegel Exercises
Did you know that there is an exercise that you can do anywhere, anytime, in front of anyone that can intensify and improve your orgasms? It’s true! You can strengthen your pubococcygeus (mercifully abbreviated to “PC”) muscles just like you strengthen any other muscle, but without coughing up gym fees!
People of all genders have PC muscles… they’re an integral part of our body’s make-up, supporting all of our pelvic organs. The PC muscles are hammock-shaped and stretch from the pubic bone to the coccyx (tailbone), forming the floor of the pelvic cavity. These are the muscles you contract to stop yourself from peeing. They are also a huge part of orgasmic muscle contractions.
The exercises for developing PC muscles are called Kegel exercises (after Dr. Arnold Kegel, who “discovered” them) and they are very easy to learn. Basically, all you are doing is pretending to stop the flow of pee.
So. Clench your pee-stopping muscles. Do it! Yes, right now! No one is watching. There you go. Clench and unclench ten times in a row, playing with the length of time for each. Clench for two seconds, release for two. Clench and release 3 times in rapid succession, perhaps to the beat of your favorite song. You get the idea. Do three sets of 10 clenches, three times a day. That’s it! You can do these on the train, while watching TV, at work, anywhere! Just don’t do them while you’re actually peeing, because that could lead to urinary tract infections, which are no fun at all.
There are also toys you can purchase to help with Kegel exercises, such as the Energie kegel exerciser or the Njoy Pure Wand, which work pretty much like a regular barbell, except for the fact that one end is inserted into the vagina. Smart Balls are another good Kegel toy–they are jingling balls encased in silicone that are inserted into the vagina, where Kegels can be practiced by clenching and unclenching around the balls.
In no time you’ll notice your orgasms will increase in duration and intensity! Aside from the sexual benefits of exercising your PC muscles, these exercises have been proven to help with age-related and pregnancy related incontinence. So easy and so good for you!
PS: These are really helpful for people experiencing Pain during sex, working your muscles and becoming aware of what tenses up during intercourse is invaluable! That applies to all genders
