I had to add up the viral and bacterial ratios since some people didn’t put them down. Bacterial infections are curable with usually a round of antibiotics like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. That number was 48 people. Viral infections aren’t curable and are caused by a virus like HPV, HSV, and HIV. 117 people had this. There’s also parasites like crabs or intestinal parasites, which 12 people had.
As far as how they are treated by other people some admitted to either being threatened, verbally abused or trying to keep it a secret.
A lot of people don’t know for sure how they got it. Especially since some can be asymptomatic even for years it is difficult to tell when you have an STI
The effect the STI has had?
made them more aware of prejudice towards people with STIs
being judged
loosing friends
crying self to sleep, hating self, think you are dirty and undeserving of love, feel like damaged goods
need to take health more serious
getting tested more often
had to have medical procedures done
having to keep it a secret
start a blog about it
made them stronger
have to talk to partners about it
more serious about partners getting tested
found out how horrible sex education is
made relationships difficult
made more picky about who they allow in their life
stopped having sex
became really depressed
learned that you can get things through oral sex
realizing how little information there is about HPV
scared to leave current partner because they don’t want to be rejected
may not be able to have children
added injury after rape
concern about passing it on to children
taught that STIs don’t have to end your life
To everyone who has an STI
I love you. You are an amazing person. You have worth, you aren’t dirty or ruined. You are still a person with feelings and needs. You WILL be loved. You will find someone who wants you and is attracted to you. There are people that understand you and have been where you are. Please, if you’d like to help if you have an STI comment here or on FYSE for other people with STIs who need help and support. We need to stick together.

reblogging for the morning/afternoon crowd.
I only have about 50 responses. If you guys could signalboost so I can get some more responses that’d be great. Especially would like some input from MAAB individuals since it’s primarily been answered by FAAB individuals.

According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control, there are about 100 different types of HPV which affect various parts of the body in different ways. The CDC states that by the time they reach age 50, at least 80 percent of American women will acquire some sort of genital HPV infection. Most common warts, like plantar warts and butcher’s warts, are caused by strains of HPV. Around 30 strains of HPV are sexually transmitted.

April is STD Awareness Month.
Share this post to raise awareness.
By the age of 25, half of all sexually active people will have contracted at least one STD. Because most of these people are unaware of their disease status, they may continue to spread STDs to others by having unprotected sex. This includes HIV.
Planned Parenthood and other clinics may provide testing services at little or no cost to those who would otherwise not be able to afford these services. Testing may be as easy as providing a urine sample or having a blood test.

Anonymous asked: My friend once told me that two FAAB people have a lesser chance of catching STIs then a MAAB and FAAB person. Is this true?
Not really, pretty much the only way to lessen your chances of getting an STI is to use safe sex.
TW: Molestation
Anon: I’m cis female. I was sexually.. molested? When I was younger, Just, not penetrated but our genitals did connect. Now I only recently started thinking of this, but what if he had an STD? Could it be I have it? I feel bad for only thinking of this now, but luckily I haven’t had a boyfriend or any other sexual contact yet.
FYSE: It is a good idea to get tested, as there are some STIs that can occur without symptoms and herpes and HPV can both be passed with only skin contact. Don’t feel bad about only addressing it now, you wen’t through trauma and everyone needs some time. If you ever need someone to talk to my ask box is always open and a therapist can be beneficial.
Anonymous asked: What are the chances of getting an STD from performing oral sex on a guy?
Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis A, Herpes, HPV, HIV, Shigella, and Syphilis can all be transferred from performing oral sex with a penis so it’s very important to use protection every time, especially if your partner hasn’t been tested recently.
