perpetually-impressed asked: I'm thinking about getting an IUD, and am concerned about the potential for more troublesome/heavier periods. Do you or any of your followers have experience with copper IUDs that they can share? When I look online, only those who are dissatisfied tend to have a voice about it.
Of course everyone has a different experience. I’ve heard some good things about the Copper IUD. Followers, chime in!

A friend of mine had the copper IUD for about six months. Her periods were super super heavy and she finally switched to the Mirena, which is the plastic IUD with hormones. All four people I know with Mirenas have light or nonexistent periods.
