pokeleen asked: Thank you for addressing that people pit girls against each other when discussing ideals of beauty in that recent image you reblogged. That is something that really frustrates me. There's an image going around on facebook comparing thin women like Keira Knightly and Kirsten Dunst to retro beauties like Marilyn Monroe and Betty Page saying "What happened? This is more beautiful." Why can't every woman just be beautiful? Don't try to make someone feel better about their body by insulting others.
I’ve actually also reblogged that picture addressing that issue as well. I hate when people down the way a person look, especially when it’s girls against girls. Whether it happens in real life or if it’s towards celebrities. You especially see this with reality tv shows, people making fun of Snookie or the people on Teen Mom or any other show. We need to stop woman on woman hate, whether it’s about appearance, weight, how often a person has sex, race, what they wear, or who their friends are. If you notice we have A LOT of woman on woman hate in media. Pretty much every tv show or movie has women being “catty” or mean to another woman. Even in children’s cartoons there’s very little being done about friendship between women. It’s a way to keep us divided, just like all the messages about our appearance are a way to keep us buying stuff.
